3/18/2021 – Retrospective

Green day here. A bunch of opportunities left and right if you wait for them. Unfortunately I was too antsy on the oil sector plays and minimized XOM and just chopped myself up on OXY ( crazy given I had the proper read!). Ah well….you live and learn, and adjust. The main thing I’m taking away from today is that with bigger idea plays it’s best for me to be a part of the TOP of the main range (doesn’t mean I have to be first and it is not just in a range that price might visit for a little bit. If I do better job there I can avoid the chop and allow these bigger picture ideas to work.

I traded a bunch of names again, but I think I kind of like it. It takes the stress off feeling like I have to size all the way up on a certain play to hit a goal. Just play what the names give you and move on….it all adds up at the end of the day.

Nice reactive trade off the PR. I was very happy with how i played it and the one thing I wish I could have done different was go back and attack off the open.. Maybe next time.

Just a trend joint here and I wasn’t looking to be greedy. Happy with how this one landed

MOXC had some moxie early on and I just waited for the proper weaknessin strength, then joined. I say this ALL the time, but I need to be a bit more patient with my covers into the key levels. Given that it hung around that 3.90 level for a bit that next level was more than likely going to get tested once it failed and it did. I definitely covered a full .20 too early, but something that I will continue to take note of. When the markets can push higher after struggling to push through a level it’s going to pull back and reset the nearest support and I want to be there to pickup the pieces.

A couple of trend joins here. I missed the big push off open (literally watched it and ignored, then finally jumped in and covered at hte key level. The 30.14 retest was definitely a better entry, but happy with my patience given the move and not looking to try to get too greedy.

this one was sideways chop almost all day. Had a nice starting trade, then some chop around 10:30 to put me slightly red, then a little more chop before getting the main unwind. It went a little bit further later and had I not been in the chop and been looking to work the 44 level I think I would’ve been a bit more patient, but because I was working the lower zone instead of waiting for the upper (given that the price action was moving 1/3 into that size a couple of times) i just took the key level and moved on.

This is a trade where instead of getting too excited about a certain level let it show you. my covers around 43.70 were fine, but I would’ve been much better waiting for 44.

I avoided all the hype early one and waited for backside to get involved. Let it breach, then retest and prove that it wasn’t ready to go elsewhere and just let it work. My first covers were nice because the tape had shifted, but i took my eyes off of it too soon and it gave the same trade again, which i missed with another 2pt of downside that I would’ve worked. So lesson of the day is when you have a clean one don’t just lock in and move ion. Keep it on watch incase it offers up a secondary move from some larger shorts covering and giving you prime reentry levels.

Completely chopped myself out of this one by first getting in on some weakness instead of waiting for the push, then I just chopped around the key level playing it SUPER tight not wanting to messed up, but by doing so I definitely messed up and missed a pretty nice trade overall.

Because of the move and the sector I should’ve probably played a little smaller size and given it a bit more room and I would’ve had a very nice trade that I woudl’ve scaled up on the vwap fails.

The first attempt I’m happy that I just covered up for a small paper cut, but that second trade…man that hurts….lol. Played it a bit too close and covered then watched it tumble without me. I’m not upset about my covers though because it wasn’t trading the way I wanted, but I am a bit upset that I didn’t jump back in to capitalize on the move. Again this is like OCG where if I payed better attention I would’ve been able to jump back in and catch the trade.

Minimized this one. I Had a little hop early on and then just was covering too much too soon and missed a big move. Same issue as OXY. I was playing these in tandem and just lost sight of the bigger picture idea and missed a pretty nice trade because of it.

I will work on my sizing and risk given the trade to make sure that I’;m able to give these the room they deserve to work.
