After a good bit of chasing “teachers” that flexed their hot rides, and lavious lifestyles of trading in infinity pools and getting nowhere, I finally gave IU a try and I can say without a doubt that my trading has forever changed for the better thanks to Nate and the team.
If you ask me this is the best place to go to learn how to actually trade. You will learn process, you will gain clarirty, and you will received guidance from veterans that excel at what they do.
Brokers
I’ve tried a few brokers for day trading equities and the broker that completely changed the game for me is Centerpoint securities. Like many I started off with a TDA account and found that for day trading that the executions as well as the prints were just to slow, and when we’re talking about the need to be able to execute on a dime in the middle of chaos (like SSR for instance) Centerpoint has been an absolute Rock. Their commission structure is incredible and the direct access routes that you have access to are top notch. On top of this this customer service is excellent.
I personally like to compartmentalize the different “corners” of trading and I do this by having a different broker that specializes in options.
News & Market Research
One of my favorite aspects of Benzinga is that it gives me a central hub around a ticker. In the past I’ve had to managed 4-5 different tabs in a web browser and navigate back and forth to get data around a ticker. With Benzinga I have a central location for this data and I’m able to focus in on place. For me that’s huge as I don’t have to run around trying to find the right tab with the right news and/or financial data. I open up Benzinga and have it at my finger tips.
I use Spikeet for historical market analysis. It is very hard to find a tool that will provide you with as many data points and Spikeet does and after searching (and even planning to build my own tool) for many hours it’s like this gift just fell into my lap via twitter. If you have an idea and you want to see how it behaves over time with tons of data points this is the tool for you. I’ve used backtesting from trade-ideas in the past, and in my opinion this is without a doubt superior, easier to manage, and more relevant in every single way.
When you’re day trading every minute is precious, so it’s great to have a tool that helps you explore sec fillings in a “flash”. It is my opinion that you should still have the ability to read and understand SEC fillings, however this tool helps save a ton of time. Flash-Sec is a great tool to be able to review the underpinnings of a company. I use this mostly for small cap names to get a feel for what I’m dealing with.
