If you’re wondering why I’m doing this so early in the day, it’s because I’m done for the day…lol. I came into this morning thinking..man nothing is really setting up except for 2 or 3 plays, but overall slow action and even though about it being a no trade day for me. I think the next time I get the gut feeling that it’s a no trade day I’ll definitely listen to that inner voice.
This is definitely a weird red day for me. Not weird that it’s red, but because of how it happened as I’ll note a little below. I hit my daily max loss QUICK and in a hurry on starter size as well…lol. I’m a bit conflicted by it because on one hand I didn’t go on tilt with the trade and I didn’t give back more than a day. Oddly enough it’s satisfying to be disappointed in this way. In ever tragedy there’s a good lesson to take out of it and that’s what I’m looking to do here. Yes it’s a red day, but it’s an outlier and I have a good idea as to why it happened and what I can do to not get jacked in the face again..lol
I also realized that there are some setups that I really like that I haven’t been paying attention to, that I need to do a better job of. Both $HOME and $EBAY fit the criteria for that style play and would have been good layups. I also realized that I need to better my entry criteria for my various setups. needless to say there are some holes in my game that I gotta patch up and I’m oddly grateful for the opportunity to spot them and improve my process a bit more. IMHo you should always be looking to improve, so regardless of the
PINS
Now here’s the funny thing here…I started with starter size and got SWIPED to the high heavens about 15 seconds after I entered the name. Just my luck I guess…lol I was looking to try and cover it on the pullback, but then my youngest son came in and started pulling on my arm and it threw me off, so here we are. As much as I want to blame my kid for grabbing my arm being why I didn’t cover that swipe the reality is I had a piss poor entry that I believe was fueled by a lack of patience (even though it was starter size). There were many signs in the premarket that I missed that I am fully aware of in hindsight. Not to mention had I been patient there was a nice 4pt play waiting for me on the other side of the hill.
A few things to take away. Do NOT short weakness. I’ve said this here time and time before to myself and I did it here today. The tape LOOKED weak, but in all honesty I wasn’t paying attention to the l2. I think the offers thinned up and allowed that volume to rip it. This is definitely something I can improve on reading as well. Also Time for entries matters. I can’t stress this enough. Nothing wrong with waiting fro the setup to properly show itself.
So clearly I have a bunch of stuff to work on and a major one is going to be the categorization of my trades in the morning, which will inevitably lead to better play selection based on how I trade. This will help me focus on the setups that will help bring in profits and eliminate bad entries on those that just aren’t the cream of the crop in the context of whatever time frame I’m in.
